Ireland joined the Global Powerlifting Committee at the GPC Worlds Championships in Vienna, Austria in 2003. Irish powerlifters have successfully competed in all subsequent World Championships........2004 in Athens, Georgia USA.........2005 in Dessau, Germany and 2006 in Gent, Belgium. This year we are hoping to send a full team to Calgary, Canada at the end of October.

At a GPC meeting held recentley in Limerick Ian Morris was elected Vice President of GPC Ireland. Ian is resident in Cape Town, South Africa and has been involved in the sport since 1973. He was instrumental in
founding The South African Powerlifting Association which he was President of for many years.
